I have officially made it over the Atlantic Ocean, and have been in Luxembourg for a little over a week. Thus far it has been an amazing experience, my host family has been great, and my housemates are really cool. I currently live in Oberkorn, which is about a fifteen minute walk from the chateau. I live with the Gerard family, whom own a bakery. Although they are my host family, I do not really live with them. I actually live across the street in their second home on the third floor, and a kid from France lives on the second floor.
Some mornings I think I'm the luckiest person alive being able to take anything from the bakery for breakfast, and then other mornings I worry about gaining twenty pounds while in Europe. Their website is www.gerard.lu, and Mr. Gerard is known as the crazy baker, because he creates funny cakes, and baked goods.
The integration program and the first weekend in Luxembourg was a lot of fun. We saw Luxembourg city, toured a winery, and even visited a really cool castle. Over these next few months, I hope to visit Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, France, Poland, and a few other countries. Besides visiting those counties I will be visiting England, and Iceland for study tours in two of my classes.
The classes I am taking here are Finance 301, Management 291, German 103, International Studies 141, History 364, and Sociology 337. Finance and Management I would say I am looking forward to least, but learning German, and about European Society in two of my other classes I think will be a lot of fun.
